Manuscripts dealing with biological aspects of natural history (taxonomy, systematics, biogeograghy, ecology, and environmental biology) will be considered for publication in the Occasional Papers. Please review this carefully, and consult recent issues of the Occasional Papers and the Council of Biology Editors style manual (5th Edition) for examples of format and style. Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout and printed in clear type on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper with one inch margins. Manuscripts should be arranged as follows: title, authors(s) and address(es), abstract, and text, with headings for major sections (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, Literature Cited) in mixed case and bold type, and subsection headings in italics with only the first letter of the first word capitalized. Use italics and bold face as appropriate; do not use underlines in the manuscript to indicate italic or bold type. A style sheet with formats for taxonomic descriptions, literature citations and other exampls should be requested from the Editor. Follow text with appendices, figure legends, figures, and tables with table headings. Tables may be printed in landscape format on 8.5 by 14 inch paper. Send clear copies of figures; retain originals until the manuscript is accepted for publication. Submit three copies of the manuscript to:

Page layout and production of camera-ready copy of the Occasional Papers is performed at the Tulane University Museum of Natural History using desktop publishing software. Once accepted for publication, manuscripts should be submitted on standard 3.5 inch DOS or Macintosh-compatible floppy diskettes, in addition to a revised printed copy. Most major word-processing software formats are acceptable. Original figures should be submitted at this time, although TIFF or EPS image files on floppy diskettes are also acceptable formats for figures. Please contact the Editor Dr. Hank Bart (hbartjr@tulane.edu) to discuss issues of software compatibility. Original art will be returned.
Authors with grants or institutional resources are encouraged to pay page charges which are currently estimated at $100 per page.
